Join us for the adventure of a lifetime in fabulous Italy! Our trip will begin when we fly into historical Venice and experience all this famous city has to offer. We will then travel by train to Rome where we will spend 4 days studying art and architecture of the Renaissance, visiting museums, the Vatican, Pompeii, and of course, Pisa. Our trip continues as we travel by rail on to Florence where we will spend 2 days furthering our study of art and architecture.
The trip will culminate with a week-long stay in the Northern Italian town of Buja, where we will live in a historic home amongst the locals. We will walk to the corner market for fresh produce, experiment preparing local cuisine, explore the beautiful mountainous area with its unique geologic formations, and continue our study of Italian architecture.
Students will be expected to maintain a journal detailing their experience with the art and architecture of Italy. The journal will be a photo-journal with a reflective component on the various sites visited.
The cost of the trip is $3300.00 and includes airfare, rail transportation, accommodations, and all meals and admission to museums. Students will need a passport to travel to Italy and are responsible for personal spending money. Students will need a camera, preferably digital, to complete their photo-journals.
NOTE: The cost may change slightly as we track the U.S. dollar against the Euro.
In order to secure a place on this trip, students must make a $500.00 deposit by May 2, 2011. This deposit becomes nonrefundable once airfare is purchased. Students requesting consideration for financial aid must complete the required form and return it to the MVCDS Business Office by May 2 as well.
