We are offering a trip to France preceded by intensive study during the month of November. Goals of the trip are threefold: to study the history and architecture of the sites visited; to give students exposure to the local people in order to promote understanding and appreciation of French culture; and to give students an opportunity to use their language skills.
Before leaving for France, we will spend several days in intensive study on the Maumee Valley campus, learning about the history and architecture of France, focusing particularly on the sites that we will visit. In addition, students will study basic and necessary French and conversation skills.
In France, we will travel by train to the following locations: Paris; Chartres; the Loire Valley castles; Mont Saint Michel; and Bayeux. Note that the itinerary may change slightly as we track the dollar against the euro.
Students' time will be structured and a variety of exercises will be devised to promote contact with French people. Students will be required to keep a daily journal, research and present a specific topic, and participate in various linguistic exercises during our time in France.
The cost of the trip is $3300.00. This includes air transportation, rail transportation, accommodations, all meals, admission to museums, and all orientation materials. Students are responsible for personal spending money and a valid passport. Note that the cost may change slightly as we track the dollar against the euro.
In order to secure a place on this trip, we ask that students bring a deposit of $300.00 by May 2.
Students who need financial aid must complete the required information sheet and turn it in by May 2. While Maumee Valley will try to help all students who request aid, the school cannot guarantee a fixed amount of money until all requests are reviewed.
